Open Position: Sustainability Consultant

About Trayak: Trayak is a leading consulting and software solutions company dedicated to helping businesses create real innovation in product and packaging sustainability. The name Trayak is loosely defined from Sanskrit as “The Protector”, and this concept has been the driving force for Trayak to effect positive change. We specialize in providing easy-to-use, data-driven tools to empower organizations to make informed decisions, drive innovation, and reduce environmental impact – across product and packaging development, manufacturing, and launch. Our team is composed of passionate sustainability professionals who are committed to delivering excellence and driving meaningful change.

Job Description: As a full-time Sustainability Consultant, you will directly engage with companies and users of our software platform. You will perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), calculating the environmental impact of packages and products. You will also provide guidance on how companies can improve their packaging sustainability and use the data provided to make better decisions.

Our consultants complete detailed analyses of products and/or packaging and conduct LCAs, both for internal assessments and third-party review. They research upcoming trends and methodologies in LCA and sustainability, applying these to our software platform. They also maintain the databases used in the software platform, ensuring our data is up-to-date and working to add new datasets when they become available.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their sustainability needs and providing tailored solutions to meet their objectives.
  2. Manage multiple sustainability projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  3. Collaborate with internal technical and non-technical teams to align sustainability efforts with overall business objectives.
  4. Oversee the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a smooth transition and providing ongoing support to address any sustainability-related questions or challenges.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field of study.
  2. Environmental Engineering, LCA, and/or sustainability policy coursework and knowledge a plus
  3. Passionate about sustainability, action oriented, and results driven
  4. Experience with data gathering tools and ability to learn new software and concepts quickly
  5. High level of comfort and knowledge using data to drive insights, decisions, and to quantify impact
  6. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with changing priorities
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  8. Detail Oriented and quantitative skills
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  10. Highly organized, creative, and attentive to detail
  11. Flexible to support changing needs and eagerness to learn on the job
  12. Initiative to think outside the box
  13. Awareness of sustainability issues, measurements and reporting requirements
  14. Knowledge of LCA, packaging and/or product sustainability a plus
