Arnold & Porter is seeking a Senior Policy Specialist to join its Chambers-ranked Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group in Washington, DC.

The legislative and public policy group supports clients on a broad range of policy matters, including, appropriations, congressional investigations, defense, energy, financial services, healthcare, tax, technology, trade transportation, and related regulatory and legislative issues. The Senior Policy Specialist position will focus primarily on trade, financial services, and appropriations with assignments in other policy areas as needed.

Key responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments; supporting advocacy strategies; direct lobbying; and advising clients on issues such as tariffs, export controls, sanctions, free trade agreements, trade enforcement, privacy, artificial intelligence, Section 230, and federal funding.

The practice group includes approximately 40 professionals and represents Fortune 500 companies, startups, trade associations, educational institutions, foundations, local governments, and foreign sovereigns in congressional and regulatory advocacy matters.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in federal legislative or public policy roles, including experience in Congress, the Executive Branch, government relations, trade associations, or related organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree and strong academic credentials required.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be eligible to register as a lobbyist under the Lobbying Disclosure Act.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $95,000 to $185,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
